Not on the Path of the Gods, not at Punta Campanella, not on the way to Ieranto. Between eleven and four in July and August, the exposed sections are genuinely dangerous for anyone underprepared. This is not caution — it is the single most useful sentence on this website.
The sea is warm from June and stays warm into October. The bays facing south — Marina del Cantone, Recommone — are swimmable from late March.
The peninsula fills in the last week of July and empties in the first week of September. August weekends are unmanageable: the coast is high, the access points are few, and the roads are narrow.
November is the wettest month. Do not walk the cliff trails within a day of heavy rain: wet limestone beside an unprotected drop is a bad combination.
May and September. Mild weather, warm sea, manageable crowds.
